The 2026 PGA Tour season will end its regular season this week with a trip to Greensboro, North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship. This is the last chance for the golfers to secure their spot in the top-70 FedEx Playoff rankings and earn their way into the FedEx Cup Playoffs next week. This is going to be another wild week on the PGA Tour.
16 of the top-50 golfers in the World Golf Rankings are scheduled to tee it up in the Wyndham Championship this week. Most of the golfers at the top of the FedEx Playoff Standings are taking the week off to prepare for the playoffs next week. The golfers in the field are either trying to improve their spot in the playoffs, hold onto to their spot or gain a spot into next week’s tournament. There is going to be a lot of talk during the Wyndham Championship about the player’s position in the playoffs. This matters for DFS because the golfers on the outside, looking in, will take more risky shots (go flag hunting) to earn a spot in the FedEx St. Jude Championship next week.
COURSE BREAKDOWN
Sedgefield Country Club is 7,131 yard par 70 course. The PGA Tour ends the season with a pretty easy course. Six of the last seven winners of the Wyndham Championship shot 20-under-par in this tournament. There are not a lot of hazards, so there are not many places on the course to find trouble. Most golfers will not even bring the driver out of the bag. It will come down to accuracy off the tee and accuracy into the greens to set up short putts. We also need to factor in “Shots Gained Motivation” this week, because a lot of these players have a lot on the line this week.

WYDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP STRATEGY
This is the best week of the season to take a chance with a long-shot. Six of the last seven winners of the Wyndham Championship have all opened at 60-1 odds or higher. Heck, Jim Herman won the Wyndham Championship in 2020 at 600-1 odds. I plan to build a lot of “stars and scrubs” lineups this week. My stars will be the golfers in good form who have dominated the top of the leaderboards. My scrubs will be golfers who rank highly in Accuracy and Proximity to the Hole on Approach Shots.

DRAFTKINGS CASH CONTEST LINEUP

CAMERON YOUNG ($10,400): Young checks every box this week. He won the Wyndham Championship last year and finished 22nd in 2024. His course history is great. Young finished 2nd at the Open Championship and 8th last week in Detroit, so his recent form is outstanding. He ranks No. 3 in the Key Stats, so the numbers like him too. Young should be the best pick at the top of your Cash Contest lineups this week.
TOM KIM ($9,200): I thought about stacking Cameron Young and Jackson Koivun at the top of the Cash Contest lineup (that would leave $7,400 per golfer), but I decided to save some salary and use Kim. If you trust the numbers, Kim should win Sunday. He ranks No. 2 in SG Tee-to-Green, No. 1 in SG Approach, No. 1 in Proximity to the Hole and No. 1 in the Key Stats. Kim won this tournament in 2022. He will have a good chance to do it again Sunday.
BLADES BROWN ($7,800): The youth movement is real on the PGA Tour. We saw Jackson Koivun and Michael Thorbjornsen win this summer. Could this be the tournament when Brown gets his first win? He has been bouncing back between the Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA Tour. He has 11 consecutive top-25 finishes. I wish he was playing in the Korn Ferry Playoffs this week in Omaha (because I will be there), but I guess he would rather win the Wyndham Championship this week.
BEN KOHLES ($7,700): Kohles has been in my Cash Contest lineup a lot over the last month and as long as his form stays red hot and DraftKings keeps his price in the $7K range; I will continue to use Kohles. He has made six consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour and all of those finishes were in the top-30. He ranks No. 9 in SG Tee-to-Green, No. 7 in SG Approach, No. 10 in SG Putting, No. 8 in Scrambling and No. 2 overall in the Key Stats. Kohles has the form to win the Wyndham Championship.
CHRIS KIRK ($7,400): Kirk put together three solid rounds like week at the Rocket Classic and then a 70 on Sunday dropped him to 8th. Kirk should continue to roll at the Wyndham Championship. Sedgefield Country Club is one of his best courses. Kirk finished 5th in this tournament last year. He also ranks No. 16 in SG Off-the-Tee and No. 6 in SG Approach. Kirk can win if his putter can get hot for four rounds, instead of three.
EMILIANO GRILLO ($7,300): The stats suggest playing Matthew Wallace, but I have been playing Grillo a lot this summer in my Cash Contest lineups and so far he has not let me down. I am a believer in “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it”, so Grillo gets the spot at the bottom of the Cash Contest lineup. Grillo ranks No. 14 in SG Tee-to-Green, No. 15 in SG Approach, No. 6 in SG Putting, No. 2 in Scrambling and No. 5 overall in the Key Stats. He has never missed the cut at Sedgefield Country Club, so Grillo should be a safe play this week.
DRAFTKINGS TOURNAMENT CONTEST LINEUP

HIDEKI MATSUYAMA ($9,500): Fading Cameron Young and Jackson Koivun is dangerous, but it is the easiest way to the top if they do not finish in the top-20 this week. Matsuyama ranks No. 24 in the FedEx Playoff Standings. So why is he here? Matsuyama is not very good at the St. Jude Championship (the first tournament in the playoffs). If he plays well this week, he should move into the top-20 and will be able to skip the trip to the St. Jude. Matsuyama is playing well right now, so I would not be surprised to see him win Sunday and take next week off.
RYAN GERARD ($9,300): Gerard will be my pivot from the super chalk (Tom Kim). Gerard has excellent form and poor course history. I am hoping his two missed cuts at the Wyndham Championship will chase some people away from Gerard because his form is a lot better than it has ever been heading into this tournament. Gerard ranks No. 8 in the Key Stats, so he gets a spot in my Tournament Contest lineup.
AARON RAI ($8,800): Rai missed his last two cuts on the PGA Tour, but they were both overseas at the Open Championship and the Scottish Open. For some reason this Englishman does not play links golf well. Rai was red hot before the trip to the United Kingdom. He is one of the most accurate golfers in the field. Rai won the Wyndham Championship in 2024 and he finished 5th last year. He should have a good chance to win Sunday.
MAC MEISSNER ($8,100): Meissner is in good form and he has outstanding course history at Sedgefield Country Club. Meissner finished 6th at the John Deere and 26th last week in Detroit. He also finished 2nd in this tournament last year and 12th in 2024. Meissner ranks No. 13 in the Key Stats this week. I doubt he will have a lot of ownership, so I will take a chance with Meissner at the Wyndham Championship.
BEN JAMES ($7,400): Everyone is talking about Jackson Koivun and Blades Brown. Maybe it is James who is the next young star on the PGA Tour to win a tournament. He has six tournaments on his PGA Tour resume and he made the cut in five of them. James ranks No. 6 in Accuracy off-the Tee and No. 8 in Proximity to-the-Hole. If he can hit fairs and knockdown pins, he should score well at the Wyndham Championship.
KRISTOFFER VENTURA ($6,800): Ventura may be the most miss-priced golfer in the field this week. He should be priced in the $7K range based on his recent form. Ventura finished 5th at the ISCO Championship, 15th at the Puntacana, 51st at the 3M and 5th last week at the Rocket Classic. That is some pretty good golf. Ventura ranks No. 6 overall in the Key Stats. It is just crazy to get a golfer with these numbers for $6,800.
