Fantasy Golf Picks The Masters

Facebooktwitter

Hello Friends…. It is Masters Week!!! This is the best week for fantasy golf the entire season. Augusta National Golf Club is the most pristine course on the planet and the field this week consists of the best golfers in the world. There will be a lot of people who usually do not play DFS Golf throwing money at this tournament. Hopefully we can take advantage of their inexperience and win some cash Sunday.

The LIV Golfers are allowed to play in the Masters if they are qualified. We cannot ignore the LIV Tour golfers this week. Some of their players have good course history at Augusta National and we would be fools to fade them just out of spite. Jon Rahm won the Masters in 2024, Dustin Johnson won in 2020, Patrick Reed won in 2018, Sergio Garcia won in 2017 and Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson both won twice. These golfers know Augusta National well (but DJ, Bubba, Sergio and Mickelson are in horrible form).

COURSE BREAKDOWN

Augusta National Golf Club is the No. 1 sports venue on my bucket list. The course is absolutely beautiful. There is not a blade of grass out of place, a flower out of bloom and the sand looks like it is straight from the beaches in the Caribbean. Augusta plays 7,510 yards this week. The 11th, 15th and 18th holes have been lengthened but some of the rough was taken out two years ago. This made the course tougher and it favored the bombers a bit more than it has in the past. Augusta National ranked second-toughest on tour since 2013.

CORE GOLFERS FOR THE MASTERS

THE MASTERS STRATEGY

Course history typically trumps recent form and the Key Stats at Augusta National. You need to build your core around the golfers who play well at the Masters, but do not be surprised if we see some of the Young Guns (Chris Gotterup, Jacob Bridgeman, Jake Knapp or Akshay Bhatia) play well this week. I would not load your lineups with these players, but I expect a few of them to play well. Also, do not forget about the LIV Tour Golfers. Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau are in good form and they have good course history. Cameron Young and Matthew Fitzpatrick are not the first names that come to mind when people think of the Masters, but they have been the two best golfers on the PGA Tour.

Your Cash Contest lineups need to be built around the golfers who have the best course history at Augusta National.

Your Tournament Contest lineup MUST have the winner, two golfers who finish in the top-five, two golfers who finish in the top-10 and one golfer who finishes in the top-20. This has been the trend in the winning lineups at the Masters and I doubt it changes Sunday.

DRAFTKINGS CASH CONTEST

XANDER SCHAUFFELE ($9,600): Schueffele was not himself at the start of the 2026 season, but he has found his game right in time for the first major. Schauffele finished 7th at the Genesis, 3rd at THE PLAYERS and 4th at the Valspar. Now he gets to tee it up at Augusta National. Schuaffele finished 8th, 8th, 10th, MC, 3rd, 17th and 2nd in his seven trips to Augusta National. He has not won a Green Jacket yet, but his time is coming. Schauffele is just as good as Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy when his game is hitting on all cylinders. I will skip the higher priced golfers and start my Cash Contest lineup with Schauffele.

PATRICK REED ($9,000): Speaking of “Green Jackets”, Reed has one of those. He won the Masters in 2018 and he has been a “horse for the course” even since then. Reed finished 10th in 2021, 8th in 2022, 4th in 2023, 12th in 2024 and 3rd last year. The only golfer in the field with better course history is Scottie Scheffler and he is $5K more than Reed. I like Reed more this year since he is playing on the DP World Tour, instead of LIV. He may not be a fan favorite, but he should be a favorite to win Sunday.

HIDEKI MATSUYAMA ($8,900): I thought about using Matthew Fitzpatrick in this spot based on his red hot form, but I have written in my notes for the Masters… TRUST COURSE HISTORY. Matsuyama is a previous winner of the Masters and his history at Augusta National is really good. Matsuyama has made 11 cuts in a row at the Masters and his average finishing position in those 11 tournaments is 16th. That is an incredibly high floor for you Cash Contest lineup.

COREY CONNERS ($7,700): I knew I was playing Conners in my Cash Contest lineup about a month ago. He is a “horse for the course” at Augusta National and his form is good this year. Conners finished 10th in 2021, 8th in 2022, 6th in 2023, and 8th last year at the Masters. Conners is one of the elite ball-strikers in the game. His ability to avoid the big number and make putts on these difficult greens keeps Conners near the top of the leader board. He may not win, but Conners has a good chance to finish in the top-10 Sunday.

JASON DAY ($7,600): Day has a history of playing well at Augusta National. He finished 8th at the Masters last year and his recent form is better heading into the Masters this week. Day just finished 6th in the Texas Children’s Houston Open. He is dialed in to compete for a Green Jacket Sunday.

ADAM SCOTT ($7,200): If you are looking for a golfer to make the cut, Scott is your man. He has played the Masters 23 times and he made 21 cuts. He won the Masters in 2013. Most golfers do not get better with age, but Scott has. He is driving the ball further than he has in his career. His irons are also dialed in this week. Few golfers have the experience that Scott has at Augusta National. He should be the safest play in the field this week and a lock for all Cash Contest lineups.

DRAFTKINGS TOURNAMENT CONTEST

CAMERON YOUNG ($9,200): Young ended the Florida Swing as one of the best golfers on the PGA Tour. He finished 7th at the Genesis, 3rd at the Arnold Palmer and won THE PLAYERS. Young has been hit or miss at the Masters in his career. He finished 7th in 2023 and 9th in 2024. He missed the cut last year and in 2022. Young has never entered the Masters with the form he has right now. He will have a good chance to win if he plays like he did at TPC Sawgrass (THE PLAYERS).

PATRICK REED ($9,000): I need one golfer who can win and two golfers who can finish in the top-five. Cameron Young, Patrick Reed and Matthew Fitzpatrick all have a good chance to win or finish in the top-five. It is obvious that Reed has solved the Augusta National riddle. He is going to be chalk, but that is OK for this lineup.

MATTHEW FITZPATRICK ($8,700): Fitzpatrick is your winner Sunday if you simply go off the stats. He ranks highly in every stat tee-to-green, around the green and putting. His game is in top form right now and his course history is just good enough for Fitzpatrick to win his first Green Jacket Sunday. Getting a golfer with the upside to win for only $8,700 is too good to pass up.

AKSHAY BHATIA ($7,800): There is a narrative that Augusta National favors the left handed golfers. We have seen Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson have a lot of success at the Masters. Bhatia is my favorite left-handed golfer in the field this week. Bhatia is gaining 9.5 shots tee-to-green since the Waste Management Phoenix Open. He should score really well if his broom-stick putter heats up this week.

MIN WOO LEE ($7,700): Lee is a bomber off-the-tee and he typically can hold his own on the greens. The weakness for Lee has been his approach shots. Well, he seems to have that figured out too. Lee has gained five strokes with his approach shots in his last three tournaments. Lee is going to climb the leaderboard this week if his irons and dialed in like his driver and putter.

JASON DAY ($7,600): I am playing Day in both lineups. I know it is risky to have that much invested into Day, but I trust him at Augusta. He has a lot of experience at this course and Day just finished 2nd two weeks ago. You can pivot to Jacob Bridgeman if you want to play a different golfer. Bridgeman has awesome form, but no course history, so he is a bit riskier.
