Fantasy Live Picks for Texas

The Cup Series will travel to Texas Motor Speedway this week. This race was run in September last year and it has been moved to April this year. The track conditions will be different, but we can expect the drivers who have run well at Texas in the past and ran well at Las Vegas last month to be up front this weekend. The AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 can be seen Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET on FS1.

The Fantasy Live picks continue to score well. I was worried about fading Kyle Larson last week, but it all worked out well. Chase Elliott finished 3rd, Bubba Wallace finished 4th, Joey Logano finished 6th, Chase Briscoe finished 10th and Denny Hamlin finished 11th. The lineup scored 69 Stage Points and moved up to No. 75 out of 152K lineups. I think that is pretty good. I will do my best to get us to the top-50 this week. @MrFantasyNASCAR )

The Cup Series had a normal schedule this week at Texas Motor Speedway. The teams had a 20-minute practice session before they lined up the cars for group qualifying. There have been two races at Texas using the Gen-7 car. There has been an average of 13 cautions per race, so the teams are going to need cars that are fast on the short-run and long-run Sunday. It is smart to combine the driver’s single lap speed with his 10-lap average speed to predict which cars are the fastest for Sunday’s race.

Here are the practice speeds for the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400

KYLE LARSON (7) destroyed the field last month at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He led 181 laps, won both Stages and won the race. The No. 5 car looks fast again this weekend. Larson posted the fastest long-run speed in practice and won the pole for the race. Larson should score a lot of Stage Points and have a good chance to go to Victory Lane Sunday.

WILLIAM BYRON (7) has been on a hot streak this year. He has already won three races and he won the last race at Texas. Can Byron will another race this week at Texas? I think he will have a good chance to get another trophy. Byron posted the fifth-fastest speed in practice and qualified sixth for the race. I will use another allocation with Byron at Texas.

CHRISTOPHER BELL (8) ran well at Texas last year and I expect the same this week. Bell qualified 9th, scored 8 Stage Points and finished 4th at Texas last year. The new Toyota Camry XSE looks faster on the 1.5-mile tracks, so Bell should be good this week. Bell did not post the fastest speed in practice, but he said he loved the balance his car had for the race. Bell starts third Sunday. He should score a lot of Stage Points and finish in the top-10 at Texas.

TYLER REDDICK (7) won at Texas Motor Speedway in 2022. Can he do it again Sunday? The No. 45 car started 18th and finished 2nd at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last month. The team has speed again this weekend. Reddick posted the second-fastest speed in practice and qualified fourth for the race. It is a good idea to use your allocations with Reddick at the 1.5-mile tracks.

TY GIBBS (9) does not have great stats at Texas, but I am not worried about it. Gibbs seems to be a much improved driver this season. He started 8th and finished 5th at Las Vegas last month. The No. 54 car has speed again this weekend. Gibbs posted the  fastest speed in practice and qualified second for the race. Texas should be a good track to use an allocation with Gibbs.

(GARAGE PICK) RYAN BLANEY (7) has been the best driver from the Ford garage this year and he looks like he is the best again this week. Blaney posted the eighth-fastest long-runspeed in practice and qualified seventh for the race. Blaney finished 8 of his last 9 races at Texas in the top-10. The No.12 car has the speed to run up front again this week.

* The safer pick is Denny Hamlin in the Garage over Ryan Blaney, but I want to save Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. for the short, flat tracks. Blaney has been good when he qualifies up front at Texas

Good luck and be sure to follow me on X (Twitter) @MrFantasyNASCARI will send out a Tweet during the race to let you know if I plan to swap out one of my drivers for my Garage pick.
