Fantasy Live allows each team to try and predict the driver who will win the pole each week. You do not have to make a pick, but if you do and you are correct; your fantasy team will earn 5 bonus points. These points can add up and be the difference in a few positions in your league standings so we need to get them right this year.
Selecting the driver who will win the pole is going to be difficult this week. This is an impound race; meaning the teams cannot make any aero changes to the car after qualifying. So the question is… will any teams trim out their cars to win the poll and sacrifice race speed? The teams who have done that this season are the Richard Childress Racing Chevy’s (Austin Dillon and Daniel Suarez) and the No. 24 car for Hendrick Motorsports (William Byron). I am selecting the car that had the best speed in practice and hope they did not sacrifice too much speed to dial in a race setup for Saturday night.
Here is my pick for the Pole at Daytona: Daniel Suarez
My pick for the pole is Daniel Suarez. The No. 41 team decided to focus on race trim in final practice. Suarez was 8th fastest in race trim with the fast 5-lap, 10-lap and 15-lap average speed. The track should gain speed during qualifying as rubber is added to the track. Suarez qualifies last so that should be an advantage. I will roll the dice with Suarez as my pole pick for the Quaker State 400.
Good Luck this week!!
