The Fantasy NASCAR One & Done games have become very popular because they are the easiest games to play. All you have to do is select one driver for each race and then you cannot use that driver for the rest of the season. You can read more about One & Done contests in my NASCAR One & Done Strategies and Picks article.
I know some of you play in games where you pick drivers for the regular season and then you get your allocations back to pick the driver again in the playoffs. Other people play in games where you can use a driver more than once throughout the season. I will provide picks for each type of contests. Here are my picks for the Daytona 500…
ONE & DONE CONTESTS
These picks are for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.
COREY LAJOIE will be my One & Done pick. I really like the Spire Motorsports cars Sunday. They are not very good at the other tracks but Ty Dillon and LaJoie have both had a lot of success at Daytona. Lajoie has been better in the Daytona 500, so I will take my chances with him. LaJoie finished 14th, 9th, 8th and 18th in his last four Daytona 500’s. That is an average finishing position of 12.2 since 2018. I will gladly take a top-12 finish from LaJoie Sunday.
ONE & DONE (REGULAR SEASON/PLAYOFF GAMES)
These picks are for games where you are allowed to use a driver once in the regular season (the first 26 races) and then you can use them again in the playoffs, if your team advances in the playoffs. We only need 26 drivers in these games so we can be a bit more aggressive with our picks. Here are my picks for games that reset at the end of the regular season…
AUSTIN CINDRIC won the Daytona 500 last year. I thought it was a fluke at first, but then Cindric backed it up with a third-place finish in the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona last August. He also finished second in his Duel Race Thursday night. Team Penske works well together. Cindric will be running with Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney in the Daytona 500. That is not a bad place to be on the track. I thought about saving Cindric for a road course track, but I will take a chance with Cindric Sunday.
ONE & DONE (USE A DRIVER MORE THAN ONCE)
I play in a game where I can use a driver three times throughout the season. I know some of you have told me you can use your drivers twice. We will only need 18 drivers in these games, so we do not need to dig too deep with our picks. Here are my picks in games where you can use a driver more than once….
BUBBA WALLACE is a good pick at all of the Superspeedways. He finished second in the Daytona 500 last year and he finished second at Daytona in 2021. Wallace also won the race at Talladega in 2021. His average finishing position in his last six Superspeedway races is 8th. That is either incredible luck or a driver who knows what he is doing. This is a good race to take a chance with Wallace.
