The Cup Series will continue the short track portion of their schedule with they travel to Bristol Motor Speedway to race on the dirt. Mother Nature did not cooperate Friday, but the Cup Series was able to get the four heat races in Saturday. We will have to use the data from the previous dirt track races at Bristol and the data from Saturday’s heat races for our picks this week. The Food City Dirt Race can be seen Sunday at 7 pm ET on FOX.
Finally, the One & Done picks kicked some serious butt. I decided to take a chance with Josh Berry before Chase Elliott returned to the No. 9 car. The pick was a homerun. The No. 9 team gambled with pit strategy and Berry was able to finish second. The other picks scored well too. Alex Bowman finished 8th and Kevin Harvick finished 5th. Hopefully we can continue to have good luck on Easter at Bristol.
ONE & DONE CONTESTS
This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.
RICKY STENHOUSE JR. will be my pick in games where you can only use a driver once. Stenhouse is tough to trust at most tracks, but he should feel right at home on the dirt at Bristol. Stenhouse finished second in the inaugural Bristol Dirt Race. He was running up front last year when he was spun out and finished 29th. If you haven’t used Stenhouse yet, take a chance with him Sunday.
ONE & DONE (REGULAR SEASON/PLAYOFF GAMES)
This pick is for games where you are allowed to use a driver once in the regular season (the first 26 races) and then you can use them again in the playoffs, if your team advances in the playoffs. We only need 26 drivers in these games so we can be a bit more aggressive with our picks. Here are my picks for games that reset at the end of the regular season…
AUSTIN DILLON will be my pick in games where you can only use a driver once in the regular season. The No. 3 car looked really fast when Dillon went to Victory Lane in his heat race. Dillon has a dirt racing background, so he knows his way around this type of tracks. Dillon may not start on the front row the rest of the season, so I will take a chance with him Sunday.
ONE & DONE (USE A DRIVER MORE THAN ONCE)
I play in a game where I can use a driver three times throughout the season. I know some of you have told me you can use your drivers twice. We will only need 18 drivers in these games, so we do not need to dig too deep with our picks. Here is my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once….
CHRISTOPHER BELL will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once. Briscoe is a good dirt track racer. Bell is one of the best dirt track racers in the country and he has had a lot of success at Bristol. Bell scored 17 Stage Points and finished seventh in the Bristol Dirt Race last year. I would not be surprised to see Bell in Victory Lane Sunday.
