The Cup Series will travel across the country this week to continue their playoffs at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. There are only four races left in the 2024 season. That means we have reached race No. 33 on the schedule. It is tough to find 33 drivers who can finish in the top-10, so most people will be flipping over rocks and digging into their couch cushions to find a driver for their One & Done lineups this weekend. I saved a few of the big name drivers for the South Point 400, so hopefully we can climb higher in our league standings after the race Sunday.
Here are the picks for the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway….
ONE & DONE CONTESTS
This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.
CHASE ELLIOTT will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once throughout the season. I am not sure how I ended up going this far into the season without using Elliott, but here we are. He has the best average finishing position on the 1.5-mile tracks this year and the No. 9 car looked really fast in practice (Especially on the long-runs). Elliott should be a safe pick Sunday.
ONE & DONE (REGULAR SEASON/PLAYOFF GAMES)
The regular season is complete for this One & Done format and hopefully your team was able to advance to the playoffs. The drivers reset and now we need to pick 10 drivers for the 10 playoff races. I matched the drivers with their best tracks and I will update it as things change after practice and qualifying each week. He is my pick for the One & Done games that reset once the playoffs begin…
KYLE LARSON will be my pick in games that reset at the end of the regular season. Larson is the best pick in the field this week and it is not even close. Larson qualified on the front row in the last two races in Sin City. He also led the most laps, won every Stage and won both races. Larson has finished 1st or 2nd in five of his last seven races in Las Vegas. There is no need to try and be cute this week and fade Larson because everyone will use him. You need to make sure the No. 5 car is your pick in the South Point 400.
ONE & DONE (USE A DRIVER MORE THAN ONCE)
ALEX BOWMAN will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once during the 2024 season. What are we going to get from the No. 48 team this week? They have been one of the best teams in the playoffs and Bowman was all set to move onto the Round of 8. The No. 48 car did not pass post-race inspection at Charlotte so now Bowman’s run in the playoffs is over. He posted the 10TH-fastest speed in practice, so Bowman may not be ready to cool down yet. I will take a chance with the No. 48 car Sunday.
