NASCAR One & Done Pick for Las Vegas

Facebooktwitter

The Cup Series has reached the final race in the Round of Eight. This is race number 33 on the schedule and that means we have used 32 drivers in the One & Done contests this year. So, how are your One & Done picks performing? I saved AJ Allmendinger for the road courses and I was able to strike gold with his win at the Charlotte Roval last week. I have been saving another driver for the race Sunday. I will do my best to roll “snake eyes” in Sin City with the One & Done pick for the race Sunday.

ONE & DONE CONTESTS

This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.

ALEX BOWMAN will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once throughout the season. Bowman has not been very good this year, but Las Vegas Motor Speedway is by far his best track. Bowman finished third at Las Vegas in March and he won this race last year. Bowman should be able to finish in the top-10 Sunday and be a good pick for your One & Done contests.

ONE & DONE (REGULAR SEASON/PLAYOFF GAMES)

The picks for the Regular Season / Playoff Games are rest this week. Hopefully I was able to navigate your picks so that you were able to make the playoffs. I know some people play in games that reset their allocations for the playoffs (meaning you can use any driver you want) and others continue in the playoffs, but you still cannot use the drivers you used in the regular season. I will provide picks for both styles of games.

WILLIAM BYRON will be my pick in games that reset for the playoffs. Byron completely smoked the field last March at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He qualified second, led 176 of the 271 laps, won both Stages and went to Victory Lane. Byron also won the last race on a 1.5-mile track at Texas. That win gave his team three weeks to prepare their car for Las Vegas, since Byron was locked into the Round of 8. Byron dominated the last race at Las Vegas and he will have a good chance to do it again Sunday.

JUSTIN HALEY will be my pick in games that do not reset for the playoffs. I am quickly running out of allocations in this format of One & Done games. I am not going to try and convince you that Haley will be a top-10 pick Sunday. I would be happy with a top-20 finish from the No. 31 car. The good news is that the rest of your league is digging for scraps in race No. 33 on the schedule. Maybe we can hit the jackpot in Las Vegas with Haley.

ONE & DONE (USE A DRIVER MORE THAN ONCE)

I play in a game where I can use a driver three times throughout the season. I know some of you have told me you can use your drivers twice. We will only need 18 drivers in these games, so we do not need to dig too deep with our picks. Here is my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once….

ROSS CHASTAIN will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once. Chastain has been at his best on the 1.5-mile tracks this year. Chastain finished 12th at Las Vegas in March. He also finished fifth at Kansas and second in the last round of the playoffs at Texas. Chastain had the fastest car in practice and qualified 10th for the race. I will roll the dice with Chastain at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Good luck Sunday!
