NASCAR One & Done Pick for Michigan

Facebooktwitter

The Cup Series will travel to the Irish Hills of Michigan this weekend to compete in the FireKeepers Casino 400. This is race No. 24 on the schedule and that means we have used 23 drivers in our One & Done Contests this year. It is going to be tough to find drivers who can finish in the top-five in these final 13 races, but I have the drivers matched with their best tracks. We just need them to cooperate with my plan and have some good luck in these final races. The FireKeepers Casino 400 can be seen Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET on USA Network.

This is the part of the article where I typically write about how our drivers finished in the last race. I really do not want to write about what happened at Richmond because it was a combination of bad luck and a driver with no talent doing whatever it takes to win. I am ready to move onto Michigan.

Here are the picks for the FireKeepers Casino 400 ….

ONE & DONE CONTESTS

This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.

CHRIS BUESCHER will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once throughout the season. Buescher won the race at Michigan last year. Can he do it again? Buescher is currently 3 points below the cut line to make the playoffs. Buescher starts deep in the field, but I am not worried about his starting position. His car was 9th-fastest in practice, so he has the speed to move up in the field. At least we know the No. 17 team will be aggressive with their pit strategy to get as many points as possible at Michigan. That is good news if you have Buescher as your One & Done pick.

ONE & DONE (REGULAR SEASON/PLAYOFF GAMES)

There are some One & Done Contests that reset when the playoffs start. That means you only need to use 26 Drivers for the regular season and then 10 drivers for the playoffs. We can be more aggressive in these types of One & Done Contests.

ROSS CHASTAIN will be my pick in games that reset at the end of the regular season. We have seen Chastain use the “Hail Mellon” to secure a spot in the playoffs. Could we see Chastain throw a “Hail Mary” to secure a spot this year? Chastain is a dangerous driver when he is desperate. He said after the race at Richmond, “I would have done the same thing (as Austin Dillon) to win the race.” Yeah, we know Ross…. The No. 1 car has been at its best on the large intermediate tracks and Chastain had some speed in practice. I will take a chance with Chastain Sunday at Michigan.

ONE & DONE (USE A DRIVER MORE THAN ONCE)

BUBBA WALLACE will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once during the 2024 season. Wallace is 3 points above Chris Buescher in the Point Standings and he desperately needs a win or a big point’s day in order to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot. Wallace nearly won at Michigan in 2022 in the Gen-7 car. He won the pole, led 22 laps and finished 2nd. The No. 23 car had a lot of speed in the limited practice Saturday. I will take a chance with Wallace and hope he can have a race like he did in 2022 at Michigan.

Good luck Sunday!
