NASCAR One & Done Pick for Watkins Glen

Facebooktwitter

The Cup Series will travel to Watkins Glen this week for another road course race. This is race No. 25 on the schedule and that means we have used 24 drivers in the One & Done game. It is only going to get tougher to navigate the rest of the season, because there are not 25 drivers in the field that have a good chance to win each week. I have the picks mapped out for the final 12 races, so we should be in good shape. The Go Bowling at the Glen can be seen Sunday at 3 p.m. on USA.

ONE & DONE CONTESTS

This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.

MIKE ROCKENFELLER will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once throughout the season. I am swinging for the fences this week. I am one driver short from having drivers who can post top-10 finishes in the rest of the races. Rockenfeller showed up with some speed this week, so he will be the driver I am missing. This may be his last start in the No. 42 car for Rockenfeller. Josh Berry takes over next week. Rockenfeller was 22nd fastest in practice and qualified 21st for the race. He has a decent chance for top-20 finish Sunday.

* If you want to play it safe, use AJ ALLMENDINGER. He has a good chance to win Sunday. You will have a use a scrub like Austin Hill at Talladega if you are following my picks and using Allmendinger this week. I am using Mike Rockenfeller and Austin Cindric (Talladega) over AJ Allmendinger and Austin Hill (Talladega).

ONE & DONE (OTHER GAMES)

AJ ALLMENDINGER will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once in the regular season and then the picks reset for the playoffs and in games where you can use a driver more than once throughout the season. Can we trust Allmendinger? We all know he has the talent to win this race. He won at Watkins Glen in 2014 and he finished second last year. The No. 16 team has not been dominant on the road courses this year, but Allmendinger looked good Saturday. The No. 16 car posted the fastest lap in practice and qualified sixth for the race. Allmendinger needs a win to make the playoffs. He should be running up front with a good chance to be in Victory Lane at Watkins Glen.

Good luck Sunday!
