The NASCAR Cup Series is scheduled to race on the concrete at Bristol Motor Speedway Sunday. The teams had 20-minutes to dial in their cars for the race, before they had to line up for group qualifying. It only takes 15-seconds to make a lap around Bristol Motor Speedway, so 20 minutes is actually a long time. Most of the teams made at least a 10-lap run, so now we have enough data to figure out which drivers should have the best chance to win the race Sunday.
Here are the drivers I will be adding to my betting card for the Food City 500…
KYLE LARSON (+550): Larson opened up at +400 and now he is +550 because he qualified 10th. He got loose in qualifying and that is why he qualified last in the final round of qualifying. He did the same thing last year but he had to start 36th. Larson drove through the field and finished 2nd. He should have a good chance to win from the 10th position Sunday.
DENNY HAMLIN (+525): Hamlin won this race last year and we may see the No. 11 car in Victory Lane again Sunday. Hamlin posted some of the fastest laps in his group and then he qualified third. Hamlin passed the eyeball test Saturday. His car just looked more consistent than the rest of the field.
RYAN BLANEY (+1200): I wasn’t planning on betting Blaney but his car is too fast to ignore. Blaney posted the fastest speed in practice, fastest long-run speed and won the pole for the race. His No. 1 pit stall should keep Blaney up front and give the No. 12 team a great chance to win Sunday.
Good luck Sunday!
