Updated Best Bets for Darlington

The Cup Series travels to Darlington Raceway this weekend. The story of the 2024 season has been about the battle between Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing. Will that trend continue this week? The drivers from Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing have won 10 of the 12 races this year and Hendrick Motorsport swept the races at Darlington last year. The Sportsbooks made Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson the heavy favorites for the race Sunday (as they should be). I knew the odds would not move too much on these two drivers, so I did not bet them to win the race early in the week. Now that we have seen practice and we know where each driver will start the race, I will add a few drivers to my card this week.

I already have WILLIAM BYRON (+750) and TYLER REDDICK (+800) on my betting card.

* I have $60 left from my $100 budget. Here is how I will be spending the remaining funds on the Goodyear 400

The Goodyear 400 should be a four-horse race. I like the drivers I bet early in the week (William Byron and Tyler Reddick). I also think Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin are going to be tough to beat. I just bet just for fun. I do not bet to try and strike it rich, but to try and return a profit on a regular basis. If you want “a little more meat on the bone”, Martin Truex Jr. (+700), Brad Keselowski (+1000), Chris Buescher (+1000) and Ross Chastain (+1800) are all good bets.

KYLE LARSON (+400): Larson has been a beast at Darlington. He won the last race at Darlington and he could do it again Sunday. Larson posted the fastest speed on the 15-lap average speed chart and then he came into the pits for adjustments. The No. 5 car did not fall off much on the long runs because Larson ran right up against the wall. Larson won last week and he will have a good chance to win again at Darlington.

DENNY HAMLIN (+450): Hamlin is my pick to win Sunday, because that is what he does at Darlington. Kyle Larson typically dominates the race and then Hamlin comes in and outraces Larson to the checkered-flag. The two drivers have finished first and second six times and Hamlin has won them all. The No. 11 and No. 5 cars look like they have the speed and track position to make the Goodyear 400 another battle between these two drivers.

Good luck Sunday!
