Updated Driver Rankings for Iowa

The NASCAR Cup Series is ready to compete for the first time at Iowa Speedway. This is a 7/8-mile track with banking similar to Richmond Raceway. There are a lot of people in the Midwest who have been waiting a long time for the Cup Series to race at Iowa Speedway. We finally get to see what the best stockcar drivers in the world can do at this small track. The Iowa Corn 350 can be seen Sunday night at 7 p.m. on USA Network.

The Cup Series had the same schedule for the race at Iowa that they had last week at Sonoma. Iowa is a new track so NASCAR gave the teams 50-minutes to dial in their cars during a practice session Friday. Most of the teams were able to make some long runs in practice, so we have plenty of data to work with this weekend. I still think track position will be king since the Gen-7 car does not promote passing. The drivers who looked fast in practice and qualified up front for Sunday night’s race will be at the top of the Driver Rankings this week.
