Xfinity Series Fantasy Picks for Atlanta

Facebooktwitter

The Xfinity Series will join the Cup Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. It will be the second trip to the track for both series. The first race at Atlanta was won by Austin Hill. That is nothing new. He has dominated many of the Superspeedway races in the Xfinity Series. The race Saturday will be part of a double-header day of racing. The Truck Series will race first at Mid-Ohio (1:30 p.m. ET on FS1), followed by the Xfinity Series at 8 p.m. ET on USA Network.

XFINITY SERIES PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

NASCAR eliminated practice for all series on the Superspeedways. The cars lined up from qualifying and set the field for Alsco Uniforms 250. We still have the data from the previous race at Atlanta and the race at Daytona to use for our picks this week. That should be enough information to help us build strong DraftKings lineups.

XFINITY SERIES STATS ON SUPERSPEEDWAYS

Atlanta Motor Speedway is a hybrid between an intermediate track and a Superspeedway. The racing at Atlanta is a bit more predictable than the races at Daytona and Talladega. For that reason, I am focusing my picks on the two races at Atlanta last year and the race at the track this year. I will also sprinkle in some of the data from the race at Daytona in February, since it is a tight Superspeedway track like Atlanta.

Here are the driver’s average DraftKings Points in the three races at Atlanta and the race at Daytona earlier this season…

STRATEGY FOR ATLANTA

Can Austin Hill dominate at his home track like he has in the last two races at Atlanta Motor Speedway? Hill led 73 laps at Atlanta last year and 103 laps in the race in March. We will have to pay up for “Big Country” if he is going to score roughly 22 dominator points.

Austin Hill is going to have some competition this week. Ty Gibbs and Justin Haley will drop down from the Cup Series to compete in the Xfinity Series race. Both of these drivers are very good on the Superspeedways and they should compete with Hill for the win Sunday. Hill will be the chalk pick, but Haley and Gibbs will be the best drivers to pivot to Saturday night.

The drivers with the best chance to be the top dominators includes Chandler Smith, John H. Nemechek, Cole Custer and Austin Hill

The drivers who start in the back with the best chance to score place differential points includes Austin Hill, Justin Haley, Ty Gibbs, Justin Allgaier, Jeb Burton, Brett Moffitt, Parker Kligerman, Ryan Sieg, Ryan Ellis and Josh Bilicki

* The Richard Childress Racing cars (Austin Hill and Sheldon Creed) had transmission issues in qualifying. They are the f astest cars in the field, but they will have to start in the back tonight. Austin Hill is by far the best Superspeedway driver in the field. Both cars will start from the back and be scored from their qualifying position. They are risky picks tonight, but I am willing to take the risk with Hill. This will definitely lower Hill’s ownership.
