DFS Picks for O’Reilly Series Race at Kansas

Facebooktwitter

The O’Reilly Series will join the Cup Series this week at Kansas Speedway. The race Saturday will be the second of seven races for the O’Reilly Series on the 1.5-mile, intermediate tracks. We often see the Cup Series drivers come down and steal the show in the O’Reilly Series. That may not be the case in the Heartland. The O’Reilly Series regulars have won every race at Kansas Speedway over the last 10 years (10 races). The last Cup Series driver to win at Kansas was Kyle Busch in 2016. Can William Byron or Cole Custer end the streak of O’Reilly Series drivers in Victory Lane at Kansas Speedway? We will find out Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on the CW Channel.

FANTASY STATS FOR KANSAS

The O’Reilly Series only races once a year at Kansas Speedway. We need as much data as possible to handicap the Kansas Lottery 300. I used the stats from the last three races at Kansas Speedway, the stats from Las Vegas this year, and the stats from the last four races on the 1.5-mile tracks last year (Las Vegas, Kansas, Charlotte and Texas). This should give us an idea of which drivers will be the best for our DraftKings lineups tonight.

Here are the stats from Kansas, Las Vegas, Charlotte and Texas, sorted by DraftKings Points….

PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

The O’Reilly Series was scheduled to have practice and qualifying Friday eveing but severe storms canceled all track activities. As a result, the starting lineup was set “per the rule book.” That put some good drivers deep in the field and the Cup Series driver (William Byron) on the front row. That should make this race a bit more interesting.

DRIVER RANKINGS FOR KANSAS

STRATEGY FOR KANSAS

The race Saturday night is scheduled for 200 laps (300 Miles). That means there are 50 dominator points available for leading laps and 90 dominator points available to fastest laps (140 total dominator points). The race at Kansas tends to have two main dominators. The first leads roughly 100 laps and the second leads roughly 60 laps. We need these two drivers in our lineup this weekend. I plan to pay up for the two drivers who I think will lead the most laps and pair them with drivers who can score some place differential points and have the upside to finish in the top 10.

WINNING LINEUPS AT KANSAS (2024-2025)

The trend in the last two winning lineups at Kansas Speedway has been to pay up for one of the highest priced driver, use two other drivers priced in the $9K range, one driver priced between $7,500 – $8,000 and two drivers in the $6K or $5K price ranges. The top scoring driver in the last two races at Kansas Speedway started on the front row. So far this year, the winning lineups have done a good job at predicting what the winning lineups would look like in 2026, but it could change Saturday. The lack of qualifying put some good drivers deep in the field (Cole Custer). We will likely have to use these drivers in our lineups, so the strategy will be a bit different this year.
