DFS Picks for O’Reilly Series Race at Texas

Facebooktwitter

The O’Reilly Series will travel to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend for the Andy’s Frozen Custard 340 (The race Saturday is 300 miles long, so I have no idea why the race is called the 340, instead of 300). This will be the third race for the O’Reilly Series on a 1.5-mile, intermediate track. Kyle Larson won in Las Vegas and Taylor Gray won in Kansas. It should be fun to see which driver is able to find Victory Lane at Texas Motor Speedway. The Andy’s Frozen Custard 340 can be seen Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CW Channel.

FANTASY STATS FOR TEXAS

The O’Reilly Series raced on the 1.5-mile tracks at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway earlier this season. Both tracks are similar to Texas Motor Speedway, so I will be using a lot of the stats from those races to help handicap the Andy’s Frozen Custard 340. I will also use the stats from the last two races at Texas Motor Speedway. This should give us an idea of which drivers have had speed on the 1.5-mile, intermediate tracks this year and which have a history of finishing up front at Texas.

Here is the driver’s Average DraftKings Points in the last two races at Texas Motor Speedway and the two intermediate track races in 2026…

PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

The O’Reilly Series had 50-minutes to dial in their cars for the Andy’s Frozen Custard 340. I looked at the trends for this race and about four of the drivers who post top-10 speed on the single lap speed chart, finish the race in the top-10. Roughly five of the drivers who post top-10 speed on the long-run speed chart (10 Lap Average), finish the race in the top-10. The best way to find the top drivers is to look for the drivers who were fast on both speed charts. They almost always finish in the top-10 at Texas Motor Speedway.

STRATEGY FOR TEXAS

The race Saturday is scheduled for 200 laps (300 miles). That means there are 50 points available for leading laps and 90 points available for fastest laps (140 dominator points). Justin Allgaier led 99 laps at Texas last year, 117 laps in 2024 and 133 laps in 2023. He has been the top dominator in the last three races at Texas Motor Speedway. It would be a good idea to build your lineups around “Little Gator” this week. He also finished 4th at Las Vegas and 3rd at Kansas this year.

WINNING LINEUPS AT TEXAS (2024-2025)

The trend at Texas Motor Speedway is to pay up for two dominators and then find some drivers who can score some place differential points. There is more movement throughout the field at Texas than there is at the other intermediate tracks, so place differential points tend to be more important in this race. The average starting position of the drivers in the winning lineups at Texas is 20.5. That is about 4 spots deeper in the field than the other intermediate track races.
