DFS Xfinity Series Picks for Homestead

Facebooktwitter

The Xfinity Series will join the Truck Series in a double-header of racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway Saturday. The Truckers will go first at 1 p.m. ET on FS1 and then you will need to switch your TV to USA Network at 4:30 p.m. ET for the Xfinity Series race. The only thing better than race day is… double race day!!! 😊

The Xfinity Series has reached the second race in the Round of 8. Josh Berry punched his ticket to the Championship Four with his win in Las Vegas. Another driver can earn his spot Saturday at Homestead and then there is another spot up for grabs at Martinsville next week. The cream usually rises to the top in the Xfinity Series in these final races. The drivers competing for the championship include Josh Berry (already into the round of four), Noah Gragson, Ty Gibbs, AJ Allmendinger, Justin Allgaier, Sam Mayer, Austin Hill and Brandon Jones. It will be a good idea to get as many of these drivers into your lineup as possible Saturday.

XFINITY SERIES PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

Homestead-Miami Speedway is a unique track. It is more of a rectangle than it is an oval. It is a 1.5-mile track that wears out tires quickly and forces the drivers to run up against the wall and search the track for grip. The drivers who posted the best long-run speed in practice will be the drivers you will want in your Drafting’s lineup Saturday.

Here are the practice speeds from Friday’s practice at Homestead…

DRAFTKINGS POINTS ON INTERMEIDATE TRACKS (2022)

There have been six races on the 1.5-mile tracks this season (Kansas, Charlotte and two races at Texas and Las Vegas). I am also adding in the two races at Darlington to the data since that is the most similar track to Homestead. The drivers who scored well in DraftKings Contests in these races will likely score well Saturday. Here is the driver’s average DraftKings Points on the intermediate tracks in 2022…

STRATEGY FOR HOMESTEAD

The race Saturday is scheduled for 200 laps. That means there are 50 points available for leading laps and 90 points available for fastest laps in the race (140 dominator points). The trend at Homestead in the Xfinity Series is for one driver to lead 90 laps and score 26 fastest laps (34.2 dominator points). A second driver leads 70 laps and scores 22 fastest laps (27.4 dominator points). It will be important to pay up for the driver we think can lead the most laps and score the most dominator points Saturday.

The drivers who have the best chance to score the most dominator points Saturday include: Noah Gragson, Trevor Bayne, Ty Gibbs and Brandon Jones
