The Cup Series has reached the middle of The Round 8 and that means 33 races are completed and we used 33 drivers in the One & Done game. The last I checked, there are not 33 good teams in the Cup Series so we will be digging deep for a quality driver Sunday. Do not panic though. The people you are competing against in your One & Done leagues are is the same situation. We are going to need some luck this week in the Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead.
There are three races left in the 2022 Cup Series season. The drivers I have left include: Alex Bowman (Bowman will not race at Homestead or Martinsville. No word yet on Phoenix which is in his home state), Todd Gilliland, Ty Dillon and all of the back markers.
Here is my One & Done pick for the Dixie Vidka 400…
ONE & DONE PICK FOR HOMESTEAD: JOHN H. NEMECHEK will be my pick for One & Done games where you can only use a driver once during the season. I thought I was going to be a man short with only Todd Gilliland and Ty Dillon left for three races. But then Bubba Wallace came and saved the day. He got himself suspended for Sunday’s race at Homestead so now John H. Nemechek will be in the No. 45 car. It is not Nemechek’s first time in the car. He tested the No. 45 car at Homestead a few weeks ago, so he should be familiar with how the car will drive Sunday. The switch from Wallace to Nemechek is probably an upgrade for 23XI Racing. Nemechek will have the speed and the talent to finish in the top-20 Sunday.
ONE & DONE PICK FOR HOMESTEAD: TYLER REDDICK will be my pick in the One & Done games where you can use a driver more than once. I am quickly running out of drivers to use in this game too. The choices I have left include: Tyler Reddick, Alex Bowman, Daniel Suarez, Bubba Wallace, Austin Dillon, Aric Almirola, Chris Buescher, Chase Briscoe, Erik Jones, AJ Allmendinger and all of the back markers. Reddick has competed in two Cup Series races at Homestead. He finished 2nd and 4th in those races. He has also been really good in the playoffs on the 1.5-mile tracks. Reddick won at Texas and he finished 6th last week at Las Vegas. Homestead is one of the best tracks for Reddick so I will use him Sunday.
ONE & DONE PICK FOR HOMESTEAD: DENNY HAMLIN will be my pick in games where you can use any driver in the playoff races. Hamlin won the race at Homestead in 2020. Joe Gibbs Racing has had a lot of speed on the 1.5-mile tracks this year. Hamlin won at Charlotte (Coca-Cola 600), finished 2nd at Kansas, 10th at Texas and 5th at Las Vegas in the playoffs. Hamlin should have a good chance to win Sunday.
