DFS Xfinity Series Picks for Texas

Facebooktwitter

The Xfinity Series will join the Cup Series at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. The Xfinity Series will start their run for the 2022 Championship Saturday. The 12 drivers competing in the playoffs include Noah Gragson, Ty Gibbs, Justin Allgaier, AJ Allmendinger, Josh Berry, Austin Hill, Brandon Jones, Jeremy Clements, Sam Mayer, Daniel Hemric, Riley Herbst and Ryan Sieg. It should be fun to watch and see who can win the 2022 Xfinity Series title. The Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 can be seen Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on USA Network.

XFINITY SERIES PRACTICE AT TEXAS

The Xfinity Series had its regular schedule Saturday. The teams had 20 minutes of practice to dial in their cars and then they qualified for the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 at Texas Motor Speedway. Many of the teams were able to make some long runs in practice. Tires do not wear out as much at Texas as they do at other intermediate tracks, but it will still be important to look at the 10-lap average speeds. I will be selecting drivers who had speed on the single-lap speed chart and the 10-lap speed chart.

Here are the lap times from the practice Saturday morning at Texas…

AVERAGE DFS POINTS ON INTERMEDIATE TRACKS (2022)

The top drivers in the Xfinity Series (Noah Gragson, Ty Gibbs, Justin Allgaier and AJ Allmendinger) have dominated all of the races this year. These drivers will be good picks no matter where the Xfinity Series is racing. We can find value to pair with these drivers by looking at the DraftKings Points on the intermediate tracks this year.

Here are the average DraftKings points on the intermediate tracks in 2022…

STRATEGY FOR TEXAS

The race at the Texas is scheduled for 200 laps (300 miles). That means there are 50 points available for leading laps and 90 points available for leading laps (140 dominator points).

The trend at Texas is for one driver to lead roughly 90 laps and score 50 fastest laps (45 dominator points). A second driver leads roughly 60 laps and scores 40 fastest laps (33 dominator points). A third driver leads roughly 30 laps and scores 14 fastest laps (13.8 dominator points). It will be important to pay up for the drivers who have the best chance to lead the most laps today. We should cash all of our lineups if we have the top two dominators and score the 78 dominator points, as long as the other four drivers in the lineup do not completely suck.

The drivers I expect to lead the most laps and be the top dominators in the race include: Noah Gragson, Ty Gibbs, Justin Allgaier, Brandon Jones and John H. Nemechek
