Driver Group Game Picks for Charlotte Roval

Facebooktwitter

The NASCAR Cup Series will compete at the Charlotte Roval this week. It will be the seventh road course race for the top series and the last race in the Road of 12. It is getting tougher to find allocations with your top drivers with only five races left on the schedule. Hopefully you saved an allocation with the top road course drivers. You will have a good chance to make up some ground on your competitors in your Driver Group Game league if you did. The Bank of America Roval 400 can be seen Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on NBC.

Here is my starting lineup for the Charlotte Roval Race

Driver Group Game A Drivers

Chase Elliott (1): I only have one allocation left with Chase Elliott and I have been saving it for this race. Elliott has been the best driver on the road courses and it is not even close. He has won 6 of the last 11 road course races. That includes the last two races at the Charlotte Roval. He led the most laps and scored at least 10 Stage points in the last two races at this track. There is no reason to fade Elliott Sunday. If you have any allocations left with the No. 9 car; use it this week.

Allocation Saver is Ryan Blaney (7): There are only two drivers in the field who have been to Victory Lane in the Cup Series at the Charlotte Roval. Of course Chase Elliott is one of the drivers. Ryan Blaney is the other. He won the inaugural Bank of America Roval 400 when Jimmie Johnson and Martin Truex Jr. spun out on the last lap. His win was not a fluke. Blaney finished 5th and 8th in his other two races at this track. Blaney is the best choice if you are out allocations with Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr. this week.

Group A Driver Rankings: 1) Chase Elliott 2) Martin Truex Jr. 3) Ryan Blaney 4) Denny Hamlin 5) Joey Logano 6) Kevin Harvick 7) Brad Keselowski

Driver Group Game B Drivers

Alex Bowman (1): I have one allocation left with Alex Bowman and I am burning it Sunday at the Charlotte Roval. I mapped out my allocations for the rest of the season and this is the only race I need him in. Bowman finished 4th, 2nd and 8th in his three races at this track. His 4.6 average finishing position at the Charlotte Roval is second-best in the Cup Series behind Chase Elliott. Hendrick Motorsports has brought fast cars to the road course races this year. I will be happy to have two of their cars in my lineup Sunday.

Kurt Busch (1): You cannot take your allocations into next season so you might as well use them all up. I have one allocation left with Kurt Busch and I will use it Sunday. Busch finished 5th in the inaugural Bank of America Roval race and he finished 4th at the track last year. He also finished 4th at the Daytona Road Course, 6th at Sonoma, 4th at Road America and 6th at the Indianapolis Road Course this year. He should have a good chance to finish in the top-10 Sunday.

Other Good Choice Christopher Bell (1): Christopher Bell has been pretty good on the Road Courses this season. He won the Daytona Road Course race, finished 2nd at Road America and he finished 7th at Watkins Glen. Joe Gibbs Racing brings fast cars to the road course tracks. Bell will be a good pick if you are out of allocations with Alex Bowman and Kurt Busch.

Group B Driver Rankings: 1) Kyle Larson 2) Alex Bowman 3) Kurt Busch 4) Kyle Busch 5) Christopher Bell 6) William Byron 7) Kurt Busch 8) Chris Buescher 9) Tyler Reddick 10) Matt DiBenedetto

Driver Group Game C Drivers

AJ Allmendinger (7): AJ Allmendinger will be back in the No. 16 car for Kaulig Racing. Allmendinger has driven this car in four road course races in the Cup Series this season. He finished 7th in the Daytona Road Course, 5th at COTA, 29th at Mid Ohio and he won the race at the Indianapolis Road Course. Allmendinger starts deep in the field but his talent is too good to pass up. If he is available in your league, you should use Allmenindinger Sunday.

Other Good Choice is Chase Briscoe (7): Chase Briscoe has had some success on the road courses. He won the Xfinity Series race at Indianapolis last year and he was a few turns away from winning the Cup Series race this season. Briscoe also finished 9th at Watkins Glen, 6th at Road America and 6th at COTA. Briscoe should have a good chance to finish in the top-10 again Sunday.

Group C Driver Rankings: 1) AJ Allmendinger 2) Chase Briscoe 3) Michael McDowell 4) Ross Chastain 5) Daniel Suarez
