Driver Group Game Picks for WWT Raceway

Facebooktwitter

The Cup Series will race at WWT Raceway this week right outside of St. Louis, Missouri. The teams had a 20-minute practice session to shake down the cars for Sunday’s race. Most of the teams were able to make a long run in practice, so now we have some data to work with to help us select our starting lineup for the Enjoy Illinois 300. The teams lined up for qualifying after the practice and they are only allowed to make minor adjustments to the car before the race (air pressure). The speeds have been analyzed and the picks have been made.

Here is my starting lineup for the Enjoy Illinois 300 Sunday…

GROUP A

* I had Ryan Blaney as my pick in Group A in the preview article posted on Wednesday. I switched it to Kyle Larson after I saw I had seven allocations left with the No. 5 car. That was a mistake. I will save my allocation with Larson and use Christopher Bell Sunday.

GROUP B

* Kyle Busch is a lock in Group B. The second pick is a tough choice between Martin Truex Jr. and Kevin Harvick. Truex dominated this race last year and he is the safer pick. Harvick is at his best on the flat tracks. Both should be good, but I will play it safe and use Truex over Harvick.

GROUP C

* I was planning on using Corey LaJoie to save an allocation with Ty Gibbs. LoJoie looked like Corey LaJoie in practice and qualifying. He posted the 15th fastest speed out of the 18 cars in his group in practice. Then he hit the wall in qualifying. I am sure most people will use LaJoie, so I will use Gibbs and try to gain some points in the standings.

Good Luck Sunday!
