Early Week Driver Rankings for Atlanta

One race is in the books and now the MENCS will travel to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Folds of Honor Quick Trip 500. Before I get into this week’s NASCAR rankings I would like to mention how appreciative I am of the Folds of Honor charity. As some of you know, I am a disabled Vet. This charity provides help to families of fallen heroes and disabled Vets. They helped me in the past and it would not be right for me to write about this race without giving the Folds of Honor a shootout.

The MENCS will be back to a normal schedule this week. The first practice is scheduled for Friday at 11:30 a.m. ET. (I do not see any TV coverage for practice so I imagine it is on the Fox Sports App) Qualifying is Friday evening at 5 p.m. ET (FS1). The final practice is Saturday at 12 p.m. ET (FS1). I will post my Garage Talk Notes after final practice. The race is Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on Fox.

My early week pick for the pole is Kevin Harvick. The No. 4 car has dominated qualifying at Atlanta and I doubt it will change Friday. Harvick has only qualified outside the top 3 in one race at Atlanta since 2013.

Each week I use different stats in my model to create the best rankings possible to give you an edge on the completion. This week I used the results from the 1.5-mile tracks, driver ranking at the 1.5-mile tracks, average finishing position at Atlanta and driver ranking at Atlanta.
