Early Week Driver Rankings for Texas

Facebooktwitter

The first round of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs is in the books and now it is time for the Round of 12 to begin. Most of the teams believe the Round of 12 is the toughest round to navigate because the Cup Series will compete at Talladega and the Charlotte Roval before they move on to the Round of Eight. That makes this week’s race at Texas very important. The 12 teams competing for the championship desperately want to win at Texas, so they do not have to worry about Talladega and the Roval. It will be fun to see how it all plays out.

Texas is a 1.5-mile intermediate track. It is similar in size and shape to Charlotte, Kansas and Las Vegas. I am going to focus on what happened in the last round of the playoffs at Kansas. I will give that race extra weight in the rankings this week. I will also look at the drivers who ran well in all three races in the Round of 16 (so we can factor momentum into the rankings), who had speed last year at Texas (so we can facture track history into the rankings) and then the cars data from the 1.5-mile intermediate tracks in 2023. This should give us a good idea of which teams will bring a fast car to the track this weekend.

Here are my early week driver rankings for the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Texas…
