The third major of the 2025 season is in the books and now it is time for the PGA Tour to travel to Cromwell, Connecticut for the Travelers Championship. This will be the final “signature event” of the season. The top golfers on the PGA Tour are all scheduled to tee it up Thursday, but we need to keep an eye out for some withdrawals after a tough week at Shinnecock in the U.S. Open. 44 of the top-50 in the World Golf Rankings will be teeing it up this week, so there are plenty of good golfers to choose from.
COURSE BREAKDOWN
The host course this week will be TPC River Highlands. It is a par 70 which plays 6,845 yards in length. Accuracy off the tee will be important, just like the other Pete Dye designed courses. The course is short, so Greens in Regulation will be the most important stat. The PGA Tour often tries to hide the pins at the TPC River Highlands so the golfers who are accurate off the tee, hit the greens in the proper tear and can scramble around the greens will be the golfers you will want in your lineups.

CORE GOLFERS FOR THE TRAVELERS

TRAVELERS STRATEGY
The most important thing to remember this week is to not remember…. Forget what you saw last week at the U.S. Open because the Travelers is a completely different style of golf. It is like comparing a race at Talladega to Sonoma. I expect a bounce back by many of the golfers who struggled last week.
This will be another week where I fade Scottie Scheffler. I know he has been consistently finishing in the top-five, but you need more than that when his price is as high as it is. I will take a chance with two $10K or $9K golfers over the highly price Scheffler this week.
This is a Signature Event and that means there is no cut this week. We can take some chances with the golfers in the $6K price range since we know they will play all four rounds.
DRAFTKINGS CASH CONTEST

JUSTIN THOMAS ($9,100): I thought about paying up for the higher-priced golfers this week, but I think a balance approach should work out the best for a Cash Contest lineup at the Travelers. Thomas has the form and the course history to win this week. JT has finished in the top-20 in his last five starts. Those were all loaded fields. He also finished 9th (2025), 5th (2024) and 9th (2023) in his last three starts at the Travelers. JT should be a safe golfer with upside to start your Cash Contest lineup with this week.
RUSSELL HENLEY ($9,000): Henley missed the cut last week at the U.S. Open, but he is built for the Travelers Championship much more than he is for that tough track at Shinnecock. Henley finished 2nd in this tournament last year and he ranks No. 7 in the tee-to-green game this week. I expect Henley to bounce back nicely at the Travelers Championship.
PATRICK CANTLAY ($8,900): Cantlay is almost the “free square” in Cash Contest lineups this week. He is not only a horse for the course; Cantlay is a thoroughbred at TPC River Highlands. Cantlay has played this tournament eight years in a row and he has never finished outside the top-15. His form is good enough to allow Cantlay to finish in the top-10, with the upside for a top-five finish Sunday.
BRIAN HARMAN ($7,800): It is officially “Brian Harman Week.” If Cantlay is a thoroughbred at TPC River Highlands, Harman is definitely a stud. He finished 8th, 9th, 2nd, 5th, CUT (injured), 8th and 6th in his last seven trips to TPC River Highlands. It is hard to find a golfer with this type of course history anywhere on the PGA Tour. Harman has made 11 of his last 12 cuts on the PGA Tour. His game is good enough right now to add another top-10 finish to his Travelers Championship resume.
ALEX FITZPATRICK ($7,700): I really thought the shine would have worn off of Fitzpatrick by now, but he has proved that he can compete with the best golfers on the PGA Tour. Fitzpatrick has played in seven tournaments on the PGA Tour and he finished six of them in the top-23. He doesn’t have any tournament history at TPC River Highlands, but that hasn’t stopped Fitzpatrick from playing well in the other tournaments this year. Fitzpatrick ranks No. 17 in the Key Stats this week. He should continue to roll in this Signature Event.
J.T. POSTON ($7,500): I will play the hot hand with Poston. He is one of the streakier golfers on the PGA Tour and he is on one of his hot streaks right now. Poston won the last Signature Event at the Memorial and then he backed it up with a 4th-place finish last week at the U.S. Open. The last time Poston showed up at TPC River Highlands on a hot streak, he finished 2nd in the Travelers Championship (2022). I will trust Poston to do the same this week.
DRAFTKINGS TOURNAMENT CONTEST

TOMMY FLEETWOOD ($10,300): I will start my Tournament Contest lineup with Fleetwood this week. His is in great form and Fleetwood has great course history at TPC River Highlands. Fleetwood finished 5th at the Truist Championship (Signature Event), 4th at the Memorial (Signature Event), 11th at the Canadian Open and 11th at the U.S. Open. Fleetwood also finished 2nd in this tournament last year. He ranks 3rd in the Key Stats, so Fleetwood should be worth his high price this week.
SAM BURNS ($9,300): I will play the hot hand with Burns this week. He finished 4th in the last Signature Events (the Memorial) and he finished 2nd last week at the U.S. Open. Burns has always been known as the best putter on the PGA Tour. He is starting to dial in his iron game too and that is bad news for the field. Burns has a good chance to sin Sunday if the Travelers Championship turns into a putting contest.
BEN GRIFFIN ($8,200): Griffin got on heater last summer and he could be really dangerous if he does it again this year. Griffin enters the Travelers Championship in good form. He finished 3rd at the Charles Schwab and 17th last week at the U.S. Open. Griffin finished 14th in this tournament last year. He ranks No. 9 in the Key Stats this week. I like his chances to finish in the top-10 Sunday.
AARON RAI ($8,000): Rai has the course history and the form to play well this week. He finished 5th at Myrtle Beach, won the PGA Championship, finished 19th at the Memorial (Signature Event) and 11th last week in the U.S. Open. Rai also finished 17th at TPC River Highlands last year and 24th in 2024. Rai ranks No. 8 in the Key Stats this week. Rai has a lot of upside for $8K Sunday.
GARY WOODLAND ($7,600): Woodland is known as a bomber, but he has been good on these short courses where accuracy is important. Woodland won in Houston, finished 6th at the Colonial, 8th at Harbour Town and 7th last week at the U.S. Open. Woodland ranks No. 1 in SG Off-the-Tee. He will have a good chance to win if he can dial in his short game at TPC River Highlands.
BEN JAMES ($6,500): If you do not know who Ben James is, just wait a year and you will know him well. He is arguably the best young golfer on the planet. He has played two PGA Tour Tournaments this year. James finished 54th at the Canadian Open and 23rd last week at the U.S. Open. James ranks No. 10 in SG Tee-to-Green, No. 14 in SG Approach, No. 21 in Scrambling and No. 18 overall in the Key Stats. That is not bad for $6,500. I will take a chance with James as my “punt play” this week.
