Fantasy Live Picks for Kansas

The Cup Series will travel to Kansas this week for another race on a 1.5-mile track. The Cup Series already raced at Las Vegas and Texas. Those races were completely opposite. The race at Las Vegas only had four cautions while the race at Texas had 16 cautions, which was a NEW TRACK RECORD! I expect the race this week to be more like the race in Las Vegas. The picks at Las Vegas finished first in all of my leagues, so hopefully we can do the same Sunday at Las Vegas.

I wrote last week that the next five races would be easier to predict and that I expect the lineups to score well. We had a pretty good bounce-back week at the Monster Mile. Denny Hamlin won the race, Martin Truex Jr. finished 3rd, Kyle Busch finished 4th, Ryan Blaney finished 7th and Alex Bowman finished 8th. Not too bad. The picks are once again outscoring 99.9% of the entries on I will do my best to keep us at the top of our league standings.

The Cup Series had their normal practice session at Kansas Speedway. The teams had 20-minutes to shake down their cars before they lined up for qualifying. Most of the teams were able to make some long runs, so we should have enough data to work with to make some good picks for Sunday’s race.

Here are the practice speeds for the Advent Health 400

KYLE LARSON (7): The most similar track to Kansas Speedway is Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Larson smoked the field in Sin City. He led 181 laps and went to Victory Lane. He also finished 4th, 2nd, 8th, 2nd and 1st in his last five races at Kansas. Larson looks fast again this week. The No. 5 car posted the fastest speed on the long runs in practice and qualified 4th for the race. Larson is my pick to win, so he gets a spot in my lineup.

DENNY HAMLIN (5): Hamlin has won three of the first 11 races and I do not expect the No. 11 team to slow down anytime soon. Hamlin finished 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th in his last five races at Kansas. The No. 11 car looks fast again this weekend. Hamlin posted the 5th-fastest speed in practice and qualified 14th for the race. Hamlin finished 2nd in the last race at Kansas from the 14th starting position. He will have a good chance to do it again Sunday.

CHRISTOPHER BELL (7): The race last week at Dover was a disaster for Bell. He will be looking for a bounce-back race at Kansas and I think he will get it. Bell finished 4 of his last 5 races at Kansas in the top-eight. The No. 20 car posted the 11th-fastest speed in practice and then Bell went out and won the pole for the race. Track position is huge with the Gen-7 car. Bell should score a lot of Stage Points and finish in the top-10 Sunday.

TYLER REDDICK (6): Reddick finished 9th in this race last year and then he came back to Kansas in September and won the race. Reddick also finished 2nd at Las Vegas and 4th at Texas this year (no driver has a better average finishing position on the 1.5-mile tracks this year). The No. 45 car looked good on the track Saturday. Reddick posted the fastest speed in practice and qualified 15th for the race. I am not worried about the starting position for Reddick. He will ride the wall to the front and still score well in Fantasy Live.

ROSS CHASTAIN (9): Chastain is at his best on the 1.5-mile tracks. He finished 4th earlier this year at Las Vegas and he finished 13th, 5th, 7th and 7th in his four races at Kansas in the Gen-7 car. The No. 1 car looks fast again this weekend. Chastain posted the 12th-fastest speed and qualified 2nd for the race. Chastain has the track position to score Stage Points and finish up front Sunday. I entered the season with the plan of playing Chastain at the intermediate tracks. I will stick to the plan at Kansas.

(GARAGE PICK) CHASE ELLIOTT (4): Elliott is on a hot streak right now. He finished 5th at Richmond, 3rd at Martinsville, won the race at Texas and 5th last week at Dover. Elliott also finished 6th and 7th in the two races at Kansas last year (he was in a slump entering those races). I really do not want to use another allocation with Elliott, but he looks too fast to completely fade Sunday. I will have the No. 9 car in the Garage as an insurance policy Sunday.

Good luck and be sure to follow me on X (Twitter) @MrFantasyNASCARI will send out a Tweet during the race to let you know if I plan to swap out one of my drivers for my Garage pick.
