NASCAR Driver Rankings for Atlanta

It took an extra day, but NASCAR finally got a winner in the Daytona 500. William Byron is the first driver to secure a spot in the 2024 playoffs. Now the Cup Series will join the Truck Series and Xfinity Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This is another Superspeedway track, so the wrecks will likely be huge and the final laps will likely be exciting. Let’s just hope Mother Nature decides to cooperate this weekend.

The Cup Series will use the Superspeedway aero-package in the Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta. That means the cars will be limited to 510 HP and will have the 7” spoiler on the back of the cars.

The draft will come into play Sunday, but it will not be Superspeedway racing like we had at Daytona. The track is tight and passing the leader has been difficult. William Byron led 111 laps in March of 2022, Chase Elliott led 96 laps in July of 2022 and Joey Logano led 140 laps in March last year at Atlanta. Hopefully this track starts to wear out and allows for more passing.

Atlanta Motor Speedway is a unique track. There really is no track on the schedule to compare to Atlanta. I used the Driver Rating, Average Finishing Position and Average Green Flag Speed in the four races using the Gen-7 car for the driver rankings this week. The new Toyota Camry XSE and the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse cars will factor into this race. I wanted some data from those cars, so I used the Driver Rating and Average Green Flag Speed to the Driver Racings too.
