NASCAR Driver Rankings for Richmond

Facebooktwitter

The Cup Series returns after nearly a three-week break for the Olympics. The teams will also return to Richmond Raceway. This will be the first time that the Cup Series has returned to a track where they have already raced at this season. There are only four races until the 2024 playoffs begin. It will be fun to see how it all shakes out at Richmond this weekend and in the final races of the regular season. The Cook Out 400 can be seen Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET on USA Network.

Typically the races are easy to predict when the Cup Series has already competed at the track. I expect the drivers who ran well at Richmond to run up front Sunday evening, but there could be some new drivers in the mix Sunday night. The Cup Series teams have some smart engineers. Three weeks is plenty of time for these teams to find some speed. The early week rankings will be based upon what happened at Richmond in March and what happened at the other short, flat track this year (WWT Raceway, Iowa and New Hampshire). I would not be surprised if some drivers climb to the top of the rankings after practice Saturday.
