NASCAR One & Done Pick for Charlotte

The Cup Series has reached the final race in the Round of 12. This is race number 32 on the schedule and that means we have used 31 drivers in the One & Done contests this year. So, how are your One & Done picks performing? I am in two leagues. I am in first place in one league and second-place in the other league. I hope you are able to have similar success this year. We only have five races left. I have the picks mapped out, so hopefully the drivers cooperate with my plan to get use through the race at Phoenix.

This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.

AJ ALLMENDINGER will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once throughout the season. There is no doubt that Allmendinger is one of the best road course racers in the Cup Series. His success depends on his car. If the No. 16 car can avoid mechanical issues this week, Allmendinger will finish up front. He is the best choice I have left, so I will use Allmendinger Sunday.

The picks for the Regular Season / Playoff Games are rest this week. Hopefully I was able to navigate your picks so that you were able to make the playoffs. I know some people play in games that reset their allocations for the playoffs (meaning you can use any driver you want) and others continue in the playoffs, but you still cannot use the drivers you used in the regular season. I will provide picks for both styles of games.

TYLER REDDICK will be my pick in games that reset for the playoffs. Reddick is by far the favorite to win Sunday. He has the best driver rating and average finishing position at the Charlotte Roval and he has scored the most points on the road courses this year. He won at COTA, finished fourth at the Indy Road Course and eighth at Watkins Glen. Reddick is two points below the cut-line, so his team will use a strategy to get Reddick the most Stage Points as possible and then let him use his talent to finish in the top-five Sunday.

MIKE ROCKENFELLER will be my pick in games that do not reset for the playoffs. I am quickly running out of allocations in this format of One & Done games. Rockenfeller will be driving the No. 42 car for Legacy Motorsports. Rockenfeller drove this car at the Indy Road Course (he finished 24th) and at Watkins Glen (he finished 19th). I need to use a ringer this week so I have some good drivers to use in the final four races. I will give Rockenfeller a chance Sunday.

I play in a game where I can use a driver three times throughout the season. I know some of you have told me you can use your drivers twice. We will only need 18 drivers in these games, so we do not need to dig too deep with our picks. Here is my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once….

CHASE ELLIOTT will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once. Elliott used to be the most dominant driver at the road courses before the Cup Series switched to the Gen-7 car. He has not been quite as good, but the No. 9 car is still one of the best. Elliott finished fifth at Sonoma, third at Chicago and second at the Indy Road Course. He has also won two of the last four races on the Charlotte Roval. Elliott is still racing for the owner’s championship, so the No. 9 team will be trying to win Sunday.

Good luck Sunday!
