NASCAR One & Done Pick for Iowa

Facebooktwitter

The NASCAR will have their first ever Cup Series race at Iowa Speedway this weekend. The track has always put on some good racing for the Truck Series and the Xfinity Series. Now we will get to see what the best stockcar drivers in the world can do at this track. The Iowa Corn 350 can be seen Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on USA Network.

We had another good, but not great race with the One & Done picks at Sonoma. Daniel Suarez was my pick in the games where you can only use a driver once. I originally had Michael McDowell in the spot, but I changed it based on Suarez’s qualifying position. That was a mistake. McDowell finished second and Suarez finished 13th. AJ Allmendinger was the pick in games that reset at the end of the regular season. Allmendinger did not run up front, but he was able to finish sixth. Chase Elliott was the picks in the games where you can use a driver more than once. Elliott had a good race and finished fourth. I will do my best to get our One & Done lineups some winners at Iowa Speedway.

Here are the picks for the Iowa Corn 350 ….

ONE & DONE CONTESTS

This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.

JOEY LOGANO will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once throughout the season. Whenever NASCAR races somewhere new, Logano wins the race. At least that is what it seems like. NASCAR will use the same tire that was used in the All-Star Race at North Wilksboro. Logano totally dominated at North Wilkboro by leading every lap but one. He also finished second at Richmond. The No. 22 car did not look great in practice, but Logano starts 11TH in the race. I expect the No. 22 car to be one of the best once the sun goes down Sunday night.

ONE & DONE (REGULAR SEASON/PLAYOFF GAMES)

There are some One & Done Contests that reset when the playoffs start. That means you only need to use 26 Drivers for the regular season and then 10 drivers for the playoffs. We can be more aggressive in these types of One & Done Contests.

NOAH GRAGSON will be my pick in games that reset at the end of the regular season.  I thought this format would be easier than it is, but I am quickly running out of drivers. I originally had Christopher Bell in this spot, but he will start last in a backup car. I will pivot to Noah Gragson. He had the fastest car in practice and he has a history of running well in Iowa.

ONE & DONE (USE A DRIVER MORE THAN ONCE)

There are some One & Done games that are not really “One & Done.” I play in a league where you can use a driver twice and another league where you can use a driver three times during the season. The picks posted below are for these types of contests (I am going to base these picks on being able to use a driver twice during the 2024 season).

BRAD KESELOWSKI will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once during the 2024 season. Keselowski tested at Iowa Speedway two weeks ago. He has two wins and five finishes in the top-five at Iowa Speedway in the Xfinity Series. He knows this track well. Keselowski was not fast in practice, but that was his strategy. His crew chief came on the radio and told Keselowski that the other teams were having tire issues after 20-laps. Keselowski said, “I am going to back it down. I do not need you working on our car all night.” Keselowski has been too good over the last month to fade at a track he has had a lot of success at.

Good luck Sunday!
