NASCAR One & Done Pick for Sonoma

Facebooktwitter

The Cup Series will go road course racing again Sunday. This time it will be a trip to “wine country” to race at Sonoma Raceway. This will be the second road course race for the Cup Series in 2023. I took a chance with Jordan Taylor and Tyler Reddick for the One & Done picks at COTA. Taylor finished 24th and Reddick won the race. I will do my best to get us another winner in Northern California.

ONE & DONE CONTESTS

This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.

MICHAEL MCDOWELL will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once. McDowell finished third in this race last year. He has been good on the road courses in his career and the No. 34 team showed that they are not afraid to gamble with pit strategy to win a race. The team took two tires on almost every stop last week to get McDowell track position. The race Sunday is going to be a strategy race and McDowell has the talent to get to Victory Lane. He just needs some luck with his pit strategy.

ONE & DONE (REGULAR SEASON/PLAYOFF GAMES)

This pick is for games where you are allowed to use a driver once in the regular season (the first 26 races) and then you can use them again in the playoffs, if your team advances in the playoffs. We only need 26 drivers in these games so we can be a bit more aggressive with our picks. Here are my picks for games that reset at the end of the regular season…

CHRIS BUESCHER will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once. Buescher finished second in this race last year and he has been one of the most consistent drivers on the road courses over the last year. Buescher has finished the last six road course races in the top-10, with an average finishing position of 6.8. I will gladly take a sixth-place finish from Buescher Sunday.

ONE & DONE (USE A DRIVER MORE THAN ONCE)

I play in a game where I can use a driver three times throughout the season. I know some of you have told me you can use your drivers twice. We will only need 18 drivers in these games, so we do not need to dig too deep with our picks. Here is my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once….

TYLER REDDICK will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once. Reddick completely dominated the race at COTA this year and he has won three of the last five races on the road courses. Reddick posted the fourth-fastest speed in practice and he qualified second for the race. The No. 45 car has a good chance to win the Toyota / Save Mart 350 Sunday.

Good luck Sunday!
