Updated Best Bets for Gateway

The Cup Series races at World Wide Technology Raceway (Gateway) Sunday. This track is considered an intermediate, flat track and will use the intermediate aero package. This is different from what was used at Phoenix and Richmond, but the racing should be the same. The drivers said they did not see any difference with the new aero package at the short, flat tracks. The Toyota’s were able to lead 298 of the 312 laps at Phoenix and 256 of the 400 laps at Richmond. Christopher Bell won at Phoenix and Denny Hamlin won at Richmond. If should be fun to see if the other teams can out-run the Toyota’s Sunday.

I already have DENNY HAMLIN (+600), BRAD KESELOWSKI (+1200), JOEY LOGANO (+1400) and KYLE BUSCH (+1200) on my betting card.

* I have $30 left from my $100 budget. Here is how I will be spending the remaining funds on the Enjoy Illinois 300

There were a few drivers who looked fast in the practice for the Enjoy Illinois 300 and I want to add them to my betting card.

RYAN BLANEY (+500): Blaney was one of the best drivers in the first two races at Gateway. He led 12 laps and finished fourth in 2022. Blaney led 83 laps and finished sixth last year. The No. 12 car is fast again. Blaney posted the third-fastest long run speed in practice and qualified third for the race. He has a good shot to win at Gateway Sunday.

KYLE LARSON (+1400): I know the Hendrick Motorsports cars did not look fast in practice and they did not qualify well, but +1400 on Larson is too good to pass up. We may not see him at odds greater than +1200 all season. Larson started 22nd at Gateway last year and he finished fourth. He starts 13th Sunday, so he has enough track position to win the race. I will take my chances with Larson Sunday.

Good luck Sunday!
