Updated Driver Rankings for Phoenix

The Cup Series trimmed practice from 35 minutes last week to 20 minutes this week. Most of the teams still had time to make some long runs in practice to dial in their cars. The field was set through qualifying, so that also gives us an idea of which cars are fast. Now it is time to compete in the Ruoff Mortgage 500K at Phoenix Raceway (3:30 p.m. ET Sunday on FOX).

It is sure nice to have practice and qualifying back. It makes predicting these races a lot easier. The practice speeds have typically translated into race speed this year. The toughest part of predicting the races this year have been the cautions for drivers spinning out on their own. The Cup Series set a record for cautions at Auto Club and they had the second-most cautions ever at Las Vegas. The trend at Phoenix is to have nine cautions in the race. The driver rankings are based on every driver keeping his car clean. That will not happen Sunday. The drivers at the top of the list are the safest drivers for your Fantasy NASCAR lineups, but there will be a lot of wrecks and that should bring some of the drivers ranked outside the top-15 into play Sunday (mostly for DFS contests).
