The Xfinity Series will join the Cup Series at Daytona this week. This is not the end of the regular season for the Xfinity Series like it is for the Cup Series at Daytona. The Xfinity Series still has four races left on their regular season schedule before their playoffs begin at Texas. 12 drivers make the playoffs in the Xfinity Series and there are seven drivers who secured their spot by winning a race this year. There is still plenty of time for another driver to add his name to the list and a trip back to Daytona is a good track for it to happen. The WaWa 250 can be seen Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on USA Network.
NO PRACTICE /QUALIFYING AT DAYTONA
NASCAR changed their rules for the Superspeedways this year. The teams are no longer allowed any track time to practice before the race. Qualifying was also canceled so the cars will be on the track tonight (weather permitting) without and time to dial in the cars
AVERAGE DFS POINTS ON SUPERSPEEDWAYS (2022)
The Xfinity Series has competed in four Superspeedway races this year. These races include Daytona and Talladega. We can also include the two races at Atlanta since the draft came into play at that track. The drivers who scored well in the DraftKings Contests in these four races should have the best chance to score well again Friday night.
Here are the average DraftKings points on the Superspeedways in 2022…
STRATEGY FOR DAYTONA
The race at the Watkins Glen is scheduled for 100 laps (250 miles). That means there are 25 points available for laps led and 45 points available for fastest laps (70 dominator points). The trend at Daytona is for 14 drivers to lead laps and 28 drivers to score fastest laps. That means the dominator points will be spread thin this week. But does that mean we need to load our lineups with drivers who start in the back like we do for the Cup Series.
There is a big difference in the Xfinity Series between the drivers who know how to run in the draft and those who do not. The top drivers in the Xfinity Series typically run up front for the entire race and stay in front of the wrecks. That is why we see drivers like AJ Allmendinger, Austin Hill, Noah Gragson, Justin Allgaier, Riley Herbst and Landon Cassill averaging the most DraftKings points on the Superspeedways.
Most people will be selecting the drivers who start outside the top-20 Friday night because that is what the “DFS Experts” have been preaching for years. I will be playing some of the drivers who start in the back, but I will be pairing them with the drivers who start up front who have a history of finishing up front in these races. These drivers include: AJ Allmendinger, Austin Hill, Noah Gragson, Justin Allgaier, Ty Gibbs and Landon Cassill
The strategy for the Cash Contest will be to select six drivers who start outside the top-15. These drivers should be the safest plays Friday night. The lineup may have the ceiling that the tournament lineup has, but that is not our goal. We simply need to outscore half of the field to take home the money.
Kaulig Racing Stack: The best team at working together in the Xfinity Series races on the Superspeedways is the drivers from Kaulig Racing. We have seen their drivers finish No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 in this race before. AJ Allmendinger will have his old draft partner back Friday night since Justin Haley is entered into the race. I will play a Kaulig Racing Stack and hope they work together to finish up front like they have in the past. Here is the lineup for my Kaulig Racing Stack:

* I am going to play the numbers in the Tournament Contest tonight. The races at Daytona are unpredictable so I am going to use six drivers with the best average finishing position on the Superspeedways this year. All of these drivers average a top-10 finish in the four Superspeedway races. The lineup will score well if they can all finish in the top-10 again.
Good Luck Tonight!
