Updated DraftKings Truck Series Picks for Knoxville

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will have the stage to themselves this week as the Cup and Xfinity Series are taking the week off. It will be back to dirt track racing for the truckers Saturday. The Truck Series will travel to Knoxville Raceway in Iowa for the second time. Las year’s race was pretty exciting. I expect the same this week. The Corn Belt 150 can be seen Saturday at 9 p.m. ET on FS1.

The Cup Series only has one week off this season and I am taking advantage of it. I am taking a much needed vacation so I will not be able to provide a breakdown of the core drivers this week. The schedule will be back to normal next week when all three series travel to Nashville.

STRATEGY FOR KNOXVILLE

The race at Knoxville is scheduled for 150 laps. That means there are only 37.5 points available for leading laps and 67.5 points available for fastest laps (105 total dominator points). The race at Knoxville had two main dominators last year. Chandler Smith led 71 laps and scored 15 fastest laps (24.5 dominator points) and Todd Gilliland led 61 laps and scored 15 fastest laps (22 dominator points). There were also three sub-dominators in the race (Carson Hocevar, Austin Hill and Derek Kraus). I expect there will be two main dominators again this week.

PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

The Truck Series had two practice sessions at Knoxville Friday evening. The field for the race will set the field for the race with four heat races Saturday starting at 7 p.m. ET on FS1. We will probably learn more from the heat races than we will from practice but it never hurts to check out the practice speeds.
