The NASCAR Cup Series travels back Nashville Superspeedway this week to kickoff off the NBC portion of the schedule. The 2022 will be halfway complete following the race Sunday and we still do not have a clear picture of which drivers have the best chance to win the championship at Phoenix. The season of unpredictability continues this week in Music City. The Ally 400 can be seen Sunday at 5 p.m. on NBC.
STRATEGY FOR NASHVILLE
Nashville Superspeedway is similar in shape and size as Richmond Raceway. Some teams have found some speed in the Gen-7 car since the race in early April at Richmond, so I will be focusing the picks on what we seen at WWT Raceway and the drivers who have had the most success on the intermediate tracks this year.
The inaugural race at Nashville last year was completely dominated by Kyle Larson. I doubt we will see one driver lead 88% of the laps Sunday. The Gen-7 car has produced a lot of cautions, mainly because the Goodyear tires cannot make it through a full fuel-cycle. I do not hear NASCAR complaining about the tires, so I think they like the cautions because they produce tighter racing. The race Sunday should have more lead changes and more unpredictability. All we can do is pick the drivers with the fastest cars and hope they do not get involved in one of the many cautions that will likely happen in the race this week.
Here are the picks for the Ally 400…
DRIVER GROUP GAME LINEUP
This is one of those rare weeks when we get to see practice before we have to set our lineups for the Driver Group Game. I made a couple of changes in Group B. I am switching out Joey Logano and Aric Almirola for William Byron and Bubba Wallace. The Fords did not look good in practice and Wallace had the best car on almost every speed chart in practice. I am hoping Wallace can win me the pole and score 10 bonus points for our teams. Byron looked fast and he liked his car so I will take a chance with him too.

Good Luck This Week!
