Well this should be fun… Daytona always produces some crazy racing. This is the last race of the regular season and the last chance for drivers to secure a spot in the playoffs. That should make if even more wild. If that isn’t enough, how about NASCAR lining up the cars and racing without any practice or qualifying? That is what we have Saturday night. It will be chaos for sure so we are going to need a lot of luck this week.
Here is my starting lineup for the race at Daytona…
GROUP A DRIVER
CHASE ELLIOTT (3): My original plan was to use Ryan Blaney as my driver for Group A but he could simply ride around the back the entire race since he is almost locked into the playoffs as long as he doesn’t crash. Instead I will use Elliott. He has scored 44 Stage Points per race on the Superspeedways this year. That is the most in the series. Elliott also has a sixth-place average finishing positions at the Superspeedways. That is also the best in the series. Elliott starts on the front row and should score a lot of points Saturday night. I am not worried about only having three allocations left. The only track I must have Elliott at is the Charlotte Roval.
GROUP B DRIVERS
BUBBA WALLACE (6): Can Wallace’s hot streak on the Superspeedways continue Saturday night. He finished second at Daytona last year, second in the Daytona 500 this year and he won the race at Talladega last year. That is either some incredible luck or some good driving on the Superspeedways. I will bet that Wallace has the skills to finish up front again this week so I will have the No. 23 car in my lineup Saturday night.
BRAD KESELOWSKI (7): I did not plan on having seven allocations left with Keselowski at the end of the regular season. I thought I was going to use the No. 6 car a lot this year, but Keselowski has not had very much speed. He has been good at the Superspeedways though. He won his Duel Race at Daytona in February and he finished ninth in the Daytona 500. This is a good race to use an allocation with Keselowski.
GROUP C DRIVER
MICHAEL MCDOWELL (7): McDowell made the playoffs last year by winning the Daytona 500. Could he get into the playoffs again by winning the Coke Zero 400? I would not bet against him. McDowell is having his best season ever in the Cup Series. He had a great race last year and I think he will do it again Saturday night. I will roll the dice and use an allocation with McDowell this week.
Good Luck Sunday!
