Xfinity Series Fantasy Picks for Homestead

Facebooktwitter

The Xfinity Series will join the Truck Series in a double-header day of racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway Saturday. This is the second race in the Round of Eight. The drivers who still have a chance of winning the championship include John H. Nemechek, Justin Allgaier, Austin Hill, Sam Mayer, Cole Custer, Chandler Smith, Sheldon Creed and Sammy Smith. Riley Herbst (non-playoff driver) won the last race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. That means there are still four spots in the championship race up for grabs. It will be fun to see how it all plays out. The Contender Boats 300 can be seen Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on USA Network.

He’s back…. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be back in the No. 88 car for Junior Motorsports. Earnhardt ran the race at Bristol in September. He led 47 laps and looked like he was going to win the race, but then his car had problems. Earnhardt should be competitive this weekend too.

PRACTICE AT HOMESTEAD

The Xfinity Series teams had 20 minutes to shake down their cars for the race Saturday. Homestead-Miami Speedway wears out tires quickly, so we need to focus our picks on the 10-lap speed chart. You can also check out the five-lap speed chart on the nascar.com site. (Click here for the speeds: Homestead Speed Chart). The drivers who were fast on the long runs and qualified up front are the drivers who should dominate the race this weekend.

Here are the lap times from the practice Friday’s practice at Homestead…

AVERAGE DFS POINTS ON INTERMEDIATE TRACKS

Homestead-Miami Speedway is not like the other 1.5-mile intermediate tracks. Homestead is a rectangular shaped track that wears out tires quickly. The key to making fast laps is to manage your tires over a long run. Having a good setup in the car is important, but knowing how to drive the track is more important. We need to focus on the drivers who have had success on the high tire-wear tracks. These tracks include Auto Club, Darlington and Homestead. I used the data from these races and combined it with the data from the recent races on the 1.5-mile tracks to help predict who should run up front Saturday.

Here are the average DraftKings Points from the races on the 1.5-mile tracks (2023) and the high tire wear tracks over the last two seasons.…

STRATEGY FOR HOMESTEAD

The Xfinity Series race at Homestead is typically three dominator race. The main dominator leads 110 laps and scores 30 fastest laps (41 dominator points). The second dominator leads 66 laps and scores 28 fastest laps (21.9 dominator points). The third dominator leads 20 laps and scores 20 fastest laps (14 dominator points). We need to pay up for the three drivers we think can lead the most laps so we can score the 76.9 dominator points they are projected to score. That means a stars and scrubs lineup will be the best way to build tournament lineups.

The drivers with the best chance to lead laps and score dominator points include Cole Custer, John H. Nemechek and Austin Hill

The drivers with the best chance to score place differential points include Dale Earnhardt Jr., Brandon Jones, Daniel Hemric, Kaz Grala, Jeb Burton, Derek Kraus, Kyle Sieg, Kyle Weatherman and Jeffrey Earnhardt
